Johnny Frank "Bud" Sewell

Johnny Frank Sewell, known lovingly by friends and family as "Bud", passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 8th, 2026. at the age of 93.

Loyal and hardworking, Bud dedicated 45 years to the Maintenance Shop at U.S. Pipe before retiring in 1995. He enjoyed working on vehicles, attending family gatherings, listening to country music, and "running the roads." Though he faced many losses throughout his life, he never lost his zest for living and his desire to see and experience all the world had to offer. He took joy in being around people and great pride in helping others. Bud cherished his time on Sand Mountain, where he spent his childhood and, fittingly, his final days. 

Bud was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Frances Sanders Sewell, second wife Anne Sharp Sewell, and third wife Ethel Clark Sewell; daughter, Brenda Sewell Houts; grandson, Nathan Sewell; parents John and Artie Sewell and five siblings.

He is survived by his loving children, Jimmy (Joan) Sewell, & Janice (Rick) Smith; grandchildren, Lee (Christa) Houts, Ricky (T.J.) Hendricks-Smith, Jason (Emily) Sewell, & Ashley (Dustin) Hall; six great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his partner of 16 years, Jimmie Wooten, and her children, Joyce (Norman) Paschal, Garry (Tina) Wooten, and their children and grandchildren.

The family is extremely grateful to Jimmie, Joyce, Norman, Garry, Tina, and Hospice of Alabama for giving Bud the love and special care he needed during his final days.

The family will have visitation on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 11-1:00pm with service beginning at 1:00pm and burial will commence at Lakewood West Cemetery in Lookout Valley.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to a charity of your choice in Memory of Bud.
