We are heartbroken to announce that Jon Willard Massey Jr. 74 (AKA The King of the Hollar) made his last inappropriate and probably sarcastic comment while being held captive in a local hospital. He was born April 23, 1950, to Jon (Snuffy) & Bettye Massey. He swore he attended high school somewhere in the 60's and went on to further his education at the school of Hard Knocks. He was employed by the City of Chattanooga for over 20 years. He was of the Baptist faith, an avid coin collector, a moderately successful skirt chaser and he loved playing pool. He enjoyed life, making others smile, cracking corny jokes and had a very generous heart.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kit Massey, his parents and 5 siblings. He is survived by his children Meghan (Jason) Graham, Derek (Jennifer) Morse, Michelle (Tony) Stewart, Sean (Heather) Rood, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, his sister April (Rick) Anderson, his beloved Aunt June Allison and many nieces & nephews.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His legacy will live on in the lives and hearts of everyone who was privileged to have known him. The family would like to thank the many people who have remained in his life thru out good and bad times, many caregivers, hospital staff, and Hospice of Chattanooga.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, May 8th, at Chattanooga Memorial Funeral Home between 11 am and 2pm, the service will start at 2pm followed by interment at Massey Hill in Boydston Cemetery at 3pm
